The fire in Kirkandrews Church is usually lit
during services, giving a cosy, welcoming feel to the church, especially
in winter. Note the decorative stonework of the fireplace, recalling the
dry-stone walls (dykes) found on many farms and roadsides in Galloway.
The sculpture of the patron saint, St Andrew, was made by a local artist, Jemma Montagu, in 1993. It replaced the original sandstone plaque which had become damaged by damp. |
