Damage to the internal walls and windows of Kirkandrews
Church.
The pointing of the mosaic stone cladding has been eroded and discoloured by damp. Some of the stones themselves have been discoloured by lime leaching from water-soaked mortar. In places, damp has caused the stones to fall away from the wall. Corrosion of the window frames has allowed water to run through, particularly wind-driven rain. In places, cracks between the frames and the walls have been filled with cement, which is unattractive and inappropriate. Some of the original Norman Slab glass panes are cracked and need to be replaced. |
