David Hawker has kindly offered to lead a walk on Thursday 25th August, 2022 at 2pm. He proposes starting in Kirkandrews, then walking to Barn Heugh and Rumblekirn on the Core Path.
For those of you who don’t know David, he is the local wildflower expert for the old county of Kirkcudbrightshire and has been, since 1998, for the Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland. He was with the Nature Conservancy Council (Scottish Natural Heritage’s predecessor) in D&G for 6 years before going independent as an Ecological Consultant, working all over Scotland and bits of NW England for 27 years. Now a retiree, but still very active. He runs a local botany group and has been doing monthly Fleet Estuary bird counts, over the last 40 years, for the British Trust for Ornithology. So, he is an active birder, botanist and gardener. Prior to all that, David was a biology teacher in Birmingham for 17 years.
If you would like to join the walk, please email us at mail@kirkandrews.org.uk or use the contact form below.
